With K-Pop and Netflix shows like “Squid Game” gaining worldwide success, Korean snacks have become popular around the globe as well. Ramen Ttang is a snack popular among Koreans, that you can easily make at home. All you need is a pack of Korean instant ramen, some sugar, and an oven or air fryer. Sounds easy, right? Read on to find out more about this crunchy and addicting snack using raw instant noodles!
Eating instant Ramen raw? Some of you might recognize this way of eating Korean instant noodles from the Netflix hit show “Squid Game”. In one of the key scenes of the show, Gihoon and Player One eat ramen raw while drinking Soju. This is exactly the way, many Koreans like to eat Ramen Ttang; Accompanied by liquor or a cool glass of beer. These types of dishes, that are commonly served with alcohol are called 안주 (Anju) in Korean.
However, alcohol is definitely not necessary to enjoy Ramen Ttang! There’s even a popular ramen snack for kids (and adults to be honest), that is very similar to Ramen Ttang, called “뿌셔뿌셔”.
Today I’m sharing my recipe with you on how to make this yummy dish at home. Enjoy the snacking!
Ramen Ttang (라면땅)
Equipment
- oven or air fryer
Ingredients
- 1 pack Korean instant ramen
- 1 tbsp sugar
- parchment paper
- small plastic bag
Dipping Sauce
- 1 tbsp gochujang
- 0.5 tbsp rice vinegar
- 0.5 tbsp water
Instructions
- Break instant ramen apart in equal smaller parts.
- Preheat oven to 230 degrees celcius.
- Line baking tray with parchment paper. Place ramen pieces on top and bake for 7 minutes, flipping half way.
- Let ramen pieces cool down and place in a small plastic bag. Add sugar and half of the ramen seasoning pack, close the bag and shake so the seasoning can spread evenly.
- Make dipping sauce by mixing gochujang, vinegar and water.
- Enjoy as a snack or serve with a cold drink.
